For Caroline, in France: Some pictures of our Rottweilers and Casey our black cat.

Caroline,

I loved the pictures on your web site of your Rottweiler Leslie and your black cat. We also had a black cat living with our Rotties and here are some pictures. I have no other way to show them but to place them here. These pictures were taken about 8-years ago and this is our then young girl Sassy with Casey the cat who was about 13 years old at the time.
Casey lived with us for almost 17 years. The Rottweilers all respected her and made me think they knew she was the oldest of the family. Casey even ate dinner with the Rottweilers.

  1. Hi !
Thanks a lot for your post ! It's cute ! And very similar to our cat with Leslie, for the story, we found 4 babies cats of 1 day old during a walk in forest, left here by stupids humans ! We took them and give feeding-bottles during weeks and weeks. We found 3 families and keept one with us. Our rottie has acted as a mum with them ! (I will add some pictures on my blog as soon as possible)
I give you some links of leslie's video on youtube :

  2. Awww ... I'm always amazed at how well our pups and kitties get along! Natural born enemies - NOT! Hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and enjoy a very Happy New Year! : )

  3. Amy, If you want to hear just how amazing it is to have cats live with Rottweilers, please click the archive link to 1996 and read Friday, May 10, 1996 The Rottweilers of Abby's World - the original web site. When we acquired Mocha's mother and father we already had 6 cats and Mocha's parents didn't like cats. It only took a few weeks of careful acclimation to get them to respect each other. The pictures are the proof.

  4. I just read the archived posting and that was sweet. I know how attached our other Rottie was to my Mom's cat and our boy, Marco is the same way. Her cat is turning 16 in Jan and I know one of these days Marco is going to visit and he won't be there. It's hard to watch them mourn for a lost pal. My Mom's cat actually shunned poor Marco when he first came because he thought we had gotten rid of our older Rottie to get a new Rottie puppy but they eventually became fast friends. Rotties do get bad press because of bad owners but of all the kinds of dogs that I've had in my lifetime (many), Rotties are most definitely the most family-oriented and that includes cats.
Btw, I loved the pics of your babies laying around on their backs - Rotties have no modesty! LOL! Happy New Year to you all and Marco says "Woof!" : )
